Forteresse/Par Hauts Bois et Vastes Plaines/Sepulcharal Productions/2010 CD Review

Forteresse are a band from Quebuc, Canada that plays an ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their 2010 album "Par Hauts Bois et Vastes Plaines" which was released by Sepulcharal Productions.

Drum programming is mostly slow beats with some faster beats being used at times, while the keyboards have a very dark and epic sound to them, as for the bass playing it is mostly slow ambient black metal riffs which follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars are mostly slow repetitive ambient black metal riffs that speed up at times and there are no lead guitars or solos present on this recording.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics touch on Quebec Nationalism and history with the songs being written in the French language, as for the production it has a very dark and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Forteresse are a  very good ambient black metal band and if you are a fan of this genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Track 1" "Track 3" and "Track 7". RECOMMENDED BUY.
