Karpathia/Urhiemat Volanie Havranov/Morbid Winter/2009 CD Review

Karpathia are a band from Slovakia that plays a very raw form of black/pagan metal and this is a review of their 2009 album "Urhiemat Volanie Havronov" which was released by Morbid Winter.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast with a lot of blast beats, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that following the riffing coming out of the guitars and at times they sound very powerful.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast raw/pagan/black metal riffs that have a thrasy feel at times, while the lead guitars are very distorted sounding black guitar solos when they are utilized, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized, the bring back the feel of the dark ages.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with some clean singing pagan chants being used at times as well as the occasional growl, while the lyrics are written in their native tongue and cover Heathen Values and Virtues as well as Indo European Nations, as for the production it has a very dark and raw sound to it.

In my opinion Karpathia are a very good raw black/pagan metal band that should appeal to all fans of the genre. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Stronghold Of Wotan's Wolves" "Plameni Zatmenej" "Volanie Havranov" and "Stronghold Of Night Wolves". RECOMMENDED BUY.
